how do you build an onboarding email sequence with AI without it sounding automated? the content i’ve generated sounds like it was written by a robot welcoming another robot. what’s the prompt or process that produces something warmer?

the register problem is in the prompt framing. ‘write an onboarding email’ produces a formal onboarding email. ‘write what you’d say to a new user who’s excited but a little uncertain, on their first day, in a conversation rather than a letter’ produces something different.

feeding in examples of your best human-written emails before asking AI to draft is the fastest fix. not describing your brand voice, showing it. paste three emails your team has sent that got positive responses and ask the model to match that register.

the word ‘onboarding’ itself is part of the problem. it’s a corporate word that primes corporate output. replace it in your prompt with ‘welcome to the community’ or ‘your first week with us’ and the frame shifts. the model’s training on corporate onboarding documents is the thing you’re fighting.
