is Notion AI useful or just a feature nobody asked for? I use Notion heavily and I’ve tried the AI features a few times but I keep going back to just using the product the regular way. wondering if I’m missing something or if this is a widespread experience.
the use cases where I’ve found it useful: summarizing long documents I’ve written or collected in Notion, generating a first draft of a meeting notes template for a specific context, extracting action items from a messy set of notes. the use cases where it’s not better than opening Claude directly: anything requiring nuance, context outside Notion, or careful reasoning.
the integration advantage is real in theory: it has access to your Notion content without you having to paste it. in practice, the quality of the responses is limited enough that I often end up copying content to a better model anyway. the integration doesn’t compensate for the capability gap.
from a content production standpoint: the AI writing features in Notion are good enough for internal documentation and notes but not good enough for anything going to a client or public audience. the bar for internal use is lower and Notion AI meets it. the bar for external use it doesn’t.
